Huxelrebe is a German grape variety, the result of a Georg Scheu crossing of Chasselas and Courtillier Musqué (Muscat Précoce de Saumur) in 1927. It is primarily grown in Rheinhessen, where it was created, as well as in Pfalz and Nahe, which are also in Germany.
In the vineyard, Huxelrebe ripens early in the season and can be coaxed into achieving good must weights so that Auslese-level wines are possible in most vintages.
This Huxelrebe is a BA (BeerenAuslese) Moist to dry berries (raisin) and due to its early ripening saved from the 2013 rains vs most of other TBA's and Icewines did not make it in 2013 and therefore we had a shortage of TBA's and Icewines. We bought what we could get and we are proud to present the 2013 vintage (however we have some 2009 vintages left, let us know which you prefer when ordering)
